I also custom design movement classes for individuals.  Because every body moves differently and responds to stress differently, I believe that how each of us moves, is also different.  Together we design a movement session that is ideal to you and keeps you moving. All of this can be done via zoom or skype.


Approximately four years ago I developed adhesive capsulitis, also known as frozen shoulder.  As a result of the excruciating pain associated with the condition I was literally unable to exercise and my overall physical condition deteriorated significantly.

As expected with this condition, it progressed through stages before basically resolving itself after a few years.  once the pain and stiffness began to dissipate, I began a journey to find professional services to help me regain motion in my shoulder, strength in my arms and improve my overall physical fitness.

I have been to two physiotherapists, a chiropractor, a naturopathic doctor and have hired personal trainers. No one was able to help me in my efforts at rehabilitation until I met Helen Dougherty.  She has been absolutely fantastic to work with and I have found her extremely knowledgeable, helpful and patient.

I am very impressed in Helen’s ability to understand my limitations and design workouts that truly are tailored to me.  I have not found that kind of deep understanding in any other personal trainer that I have ever worked with.

Helen is an exceptional individual and I highly recommend her services to anyone who is interested in any aspect of wellness.  I wouldn’t hesitate to consult her on any aspect of health, rehabilitation or personal training.

Helen trained me from September – December 2016 and I found her to be very professional and capable, showing an excellent work ethic in all her relationships with both her colleagues and her clients.

Her extensive background was apparent during every training session.  The knowledge she has accumulated about the workings of the human body and her ongoing endeavors to improve that knowledge show as she can quickly diagnose poor muscle movements and apply workable solutions.  She is also very aware of the interconnection of each muscle involved for individual movements. Because of this Helen is extremely cognizant of the fine nuances needed to fit the exact exercise to the problem and the minute steps needed to promote the workings of the various body parts.

Helen exhibits a personality that radiates confidence and exuberance, therefore implanting the same in her clients.  A positive attitude, a sparking sense of humor, and understanding of people and their foibles, along with an ability to keep clients on task all add to her competence.

Due to a birth injury, I’ve had an invisible handicap affecting my left side. My brain has always recognized the basic functions of the large muscles of my left side but has never allowed me to be an athlete, a musician, to type properly, nor even to shuffle cards.  Helen has done so much in getting my brain to recognize and use these smaller muscles, each day making me smile about doing simple things I’ve never done before, small as they might be.  I will be 80 years old on June 23, 2017 and because of my training, new horizons will still open for me.
